As of Feb 1, Gol is cancelling its Orlando to Brasilia flight- very slick- 7 hrs
Gol is cancelling it's flight Brasilia to Goiania- this baffles me.
Gol is cancelling its 3 am flight from Goiania to Cuiaba-
This is a bummer as there are no direct flights from Goiania to Cuiaba.
In the past, Azul had 3 direct flights per day as well as some Gol options.
Today- nothing. One must route thru Brasilia or Campinas in SP.
Not convenient at all.
Strange times- meanwhile Gol is adding a 2nd flight from Sinop to GRU in
Sao Paulo on March 1.
This shows the travel demand from Mato Grosso. Back in about 2010, Sinop was
losing population and being left for dead. Lumber industry was dead, the new forest code, and strong FX- no future for Ag.
Today, Sinop has doubled in population in the past 15 years and growing because of Ag and being the gateway to the north.
When I think of little old Sinop in the smoke in 2001 to today, one would
swear one has been transported to a different planet.
From Planet of the Apes in the forest with D-8's to high rise buildings, shopping centers, nice airports and ethanol mills. It is quite surreal to reflect on the past 25 years of development out there- beyond remarkable.

Sinop Airport to Add Second Daily GOL Flight to São Paulo Starting in March 2027
10/21/26
Sinop Airport – Presidente João Batista Figueiredo will significantly expand its connectivity with São Paulo starting in March 2027. Under the management of the concessionaire Centro-Oeste Airports (COA), the terminal will begin hosting a second daily flight operated by GOL Linhas Aéreas, bound for São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport (SP).
According to data researched by the CenárioMT editorial team, this new flight frequency—which includes an overnight stay in Sinop—will have a major impact on regional mobility: the weekly seat capacity at the airport will grow by 21%, while the specific transport capacity on the route between Sinop and São Paulo (round-trip) will see an increase of 44%.

New schedules and travel planning
The schedule for this new route has been designed to cater to both corporate travelers and tourists seeking greater flexibility in their travel times:
Sinop – Guarulhos direction: Daily departure from Sinop at 4:00 AM, with an expected arrival in São Paulo at 7:40 AM (local times). Guarulhos – Sinop route: Departure from São Paulo at 10:20 PM, with a scheduled arrival in Sinop at 11:55 PM (local time).
This configuration provides passengers in northern Mato Grosso with an overnight travel option for departures from Guarulhos, as well as a late-evening return flight from São Paulo, facilitating quick connections to dozens of domestic and international destinations via the airline’s main hub.
Strategic importance for northern Mato Grosso
According to Marco Antônio Migliorini, CEO of COA, this expansion of the flight network reflects the region’s robust economic development and addresses the growing demand for efficient transport options.
“The addition of a second daily GOL flight to Guarulhos will broaden travel possibilities for passengers and strengthen the connection between northern Mato Grosso and the country’s primary air hub. The increased seat capacity is a significant gain for the region, offering greater flexibility for trip planning and easier access to other destinations through connecting flights,” the executive notes.
Currently, the Sinop terminal already hosts regular flights operated by Azul, GOL, and LATAM, linking the municipality to strategic hubs such as Cuiabá (MT), Brasília (DF), Campinas (SP), and the greater São Paulo metropolitan area.
